I meant to do at least one of these a day, but it's been several days since I did the last one... Oh well! I'm back to them now.

I'm working on a game which involves characters of this 'cervid' race, and in order to do the graphics - things like dialogue portraits, battle models, etc - I'll need to be able to draw their faces consistently and in an appealing style.

So I'm doing more experimentation with these faces. I'm not where I want to be yet, but every drawing gets me closer!

I want a cartoony style that'll lend itself easily to amusing expressions, and which won't have too much detail because the graphics can't be very big... I can't decide whether I prefer the more 'realistic' sort of mouth which actually makes sense as a part of the muzzle thing, or whether to use some deliberately unrealistic 'floating' mouth that doesn't necessarily represent an opening at the end of the muzzle... The 'floating' one is more cartoony and might allow easier expressions, but it's also, well, unrealistic. Which bothers me!

Anyway, I could go either way with the mouth... I suppose more drawing and experimenting is in order!1
