CHAPTER 2 IS OUT. [HERE IT IS.]

-

[Firstly, I should mention that deviantART is ANNOYING because it doesn't let you specify the preferred dimensions of Flash files; therefore this is WAY too small! It's shown bigger on my site, here: [link]

-

I am EXTREMELY happy with this!
It's a Flash game that I made entirely by myself! Essentially everything in it is by me; the graphics (vectors AND rasters), story, coding, music, that planet... The only thing I didn't make is the sound effects; I got those from some free sound effects websites years ago, but I don't know which ones specifically because I've had the sounds on my computer for years!

Anyway, this is an RPG. Instructions are provided within.

I'd GREATLY appreciate it if you'd give me GOOD feedback; that it, something a bit more than just "this is cool"! I DID spend countless hours of this, y'know, and it'd be good to know what people think of it.

MARDEK will be a series of 8 chapters; this is the first, introductory one, and as such it's rather short (for an RPG). The others will be several times longer.

Anyway, tell me what you think!! (Especially about the music!)

Oh, and I made this (Fig Hunter Games is my own site), but it was *sponsored* oh so kindly by [link]
They paid me money, so give them a visit!

Daily DeviationMARDEK FLASH RPG: CHAPTER 1 by *pseudolonewolf is the first in a series of Flash RPG's being made. After seeing how much work has gone into this project (from the music to the coding and graphics) I look forward to seeing a continuation. Tally ho! LOL, I thought I had to lose the fight against the dragon, with his very very high amount of HP.

Now I'm to lazy to start over.

:w00t!: I love it. It’s so awesomely fun. The characters and the monsters are very well done.

A very nice game. I think it could be a lot better if the graphics were given a more modern look though.

Well, I played it one your sight, but it was just too big for my poor screen, but I only realised this bothered my halfway through the opening tower building thing.

Anyway, although I got as far as the dragon, I liked the game. The reaction thing in the battles was a nice tough (Guess what, perhaps I spent ten minutes running around looking for random battles so I could perfect my awesome reaction skill(z), but so what?). Very pleasing. And probably original although I couldn't say for sure, because it's not like I've played every video game ever, and I know that you are capable of some pretty rocking original ideas. Um, or something, I don't know, that came out a little condescending.

Well, as well, the window graphics were pretty. Thought I should point that out.

On the bigger version, when I died at the dragon battle, when the choice screen for "Main Menu" or "Load Game" came out, I'm not sure if ther was a glitch or if my computer stinks, but when I clicked on Load Game, the file screen didn't come up, it just remained on the game over screen thing. So I clicked on Main Menu, the same thing happened, and alas, I had to close the window, open a new one and try again.
Bugg'rit.

Some touchup ideas:
1.) Regionalization. There were a lot of times in that when I assumed the maker must've been British because of all the idioms. Not a bad thing, no! But some of the more shallow fans/gamers may find it a putoff. -I- don't feel that way, because it's cool that it's somewhat regional.
2.) If you can, figure out how to make the combat smoother. While I had no trouble hitting the timed hits, I did notice that sometimes animation jumped and caused the exclamation point window of time to be lagged or to jump the gun. I realize this is a HUGEly difficult thing to fix, so don't worry about it too much.
3.) Perhaps a lowered animation mode that'll help keep the movement down in combat. Some of the idle movements made by monsters and characters could take away some processing power for the gameplay, and the option to turn it on or off may help people with slower computers.
4.) I know that ship has probably sailed, but how about putting the [A] and [S] and [D] commands onto the numberpad? And use WASD as directional buttons?
Constanly migrating between the directional keyboard buttons and the mouse is killing my right arm. It'd be much more comfortable were it similar to WoW's control scheme. Num Pad and WASD would be a large ergonomic improvement. But I can totally understand if you'd rather not change it.. Every RPG has a signiature control scheme. :)

If I can think of more later, I'll -definitely- let you know.

But why? Why's it always as if there's only one way in which graphics can be 'good'?
I personally happen to find the pixelated graphics in my game to be more appealing than vectors, or 3D stuff...
