The Enneagram is a system of nine numbered personality types. Each of the nine types comes in two varieties, influenced by one of its neighbours; this secondary type is called the 'wing'. For example, Type 3 can either come as 3w4 (Type 3 primarily, but with a type 4 wing that adds details), or 3w2 (Type 3 with a type 2 wing).
It's, uh, very useful once you actually learn about it! It's enhanced the way I see other people quite a bit.

The Loyalist with an Investigator wing is fiercely devoted to those that they are close to, and always on guard for problems or threats, which they deal with using logic and firmness. They can be quiet and aloof, because they are spending so much time looking out for danger. They are the bodyguard, the Defender.
